CONAIE indigenous leader Leonidas Iza has put out the word
that his masses will take to the streets in protest
if the government cuts fuel subsidies.
Presidente Noboa has responded that the government
will be doing nothing to harm the well-being of
Ecuador's most vulnerable.
Sr. Noboa added, however, that it is not legal to
launch major protests during a national emergency,
so Iza will find himself facing the Ecuadorian military
if he attempts to stage a Paro under the
current circumstances.
